Origin & History

Collies originated in the Scottish Highlands as herding dogs. Queen Victoria's love of Collies made them fashionable in the 19th century. They came to America and were refined into the elegant dogs we see today. The TV show Lassie (1954-1973) made them one of America's most recognized breeds. The AKC recognized them in 1885.
