Origin & History

Miniature Schnauzers were developed in Germany in the late 1800s by crossing Standard Schnauzers with smaller breeds like Affenpinschers and Poodles. They were used as farm dogs and ratters. The AKC recognized them in 1926. They are the only terrier-group breed not from the British Isles.
