Origin & History

Havanese descended from dogs brought to Cuba by Spanish settlers. They became favorites of Cuban aristocracy. After the Cuban Revolution, refugees brought them to the US. The breed was revived from a small gene pool. The AKC recognized them in 1996. They have become very popular.
