Origin & History

Finnish Lapphunds were developed by the indigenous Sami people for herding reindeer in Finland, Sweden, and Norway. They are one of the most popular breeds in Finland. The breed faced near extinction but was revived in the mid-20th century. The AKC recognized them in 2011. They are still used for herding today.
